“… The purpose of this part is to support programs that prevent violence in and around schools; that prevent the illegal use of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs; that involve parents and communities; and that are coordinated with related Federal, State, school, and community efforts and resources to foster a safe and drug-free learning environment that supports student academic achievement….” [Title IV, Part A, Section 4002]
Section 4001
Section 4001 requires that LEAs provide the state with a detailed explanation of the local educational agency’s comprehensive plan for drug and violence prevention. Provide a concise narrative that addresses the coordination of the LEA plan under NCLB with other federal, state, and local programs for drug and violence prevention, in accordance with Section 9306. Include the LEA’s plan for publicly reporting progress toward attaining program goals. This narrative must also include a description of how the LEA will target services to schools and students with greatest need.
